Rocky Mountain Chapter WID Regional Scholarship Program

The Chapter plans to award and award two $1,000 scholarships in Fall 2008 (the $1000 Scholarship may be distributed for Fall or Winter 2008 semesters/quarters or $500 each for Fall and Winter Semesters/Quarters, as student needs dictate). Scholarship winners will be announced by 15 Jun 2008.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria. No exceptions will be considered.

Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible; undergraduates must have attained at least junior level status;
Be accepted by or currently enrolled at an accredited university or college, either full-time or part-time;
Demonstrate leadership potential in science, engineering, and business disciplines;
Demonstrate financial need;
Have a minimum grade point average of 3.00;
Be a woman;
Reside in Colorado Springs, Colorado area (includes Pueblo, Denver, Woodland Park and surrounding communities);
And be a citizen of the United States.

Selection Criteria

Awards will be based on eligibility requirements stated above, awards/honors, extracurricular/professional/community activities, and recommendations. Awards will be made without regard to race, creed, color, or religion. WID Regional Rocky Mountain Chapter reserves the right to revise, suspend, or discontinue this program without notice.

Fields of Study

The following fields of study are preferred for awarding scholarships: engineering, computer science, mathematics, business, law, international relations, homeland security, political science , operations research, or economics. Other disciplines will be considered if the applicant can successfully demonstrate relevance to a career in the areas of national security and defense.

Applicant is responsible for ensuring

Official academic transcripts must be postmarked
no later than 27 June 2008.

Only applicants selected to receive a WID Rocky Mountain Chapter scholarship will be notified of the scholarship awards. Scholarship winners will be announced by 15 Aug 2008. In addition, scholarship winners will be posted on the chapter website. Checks will be payable jointly to an accredited college or university and the recipient.
